St. Joseph Welcome Night
An Evening of Fellowship

Parishioners, new families to St. Joseph and Catholics interested in returning to the Catholic Church meet for Welcome Night and enjoyed pizza, salads and home-made desserts!
The Welcome Committee, along with representatives of the Evangelization Ministry, Women’s Club, RCIA, Mom’s of Tots, Religious Education and Parish Council joined to meet.
The Catholics Come Home program begins with a media campaign during the season of Advent. Its mission is to reach out to Catholics that have been away from the Catholic Church and to invite them to return.

Over these months, prayers by many of our church organizations, church bulletin articles, welcome tables, advertisements in the Wilmette Life, our Lenten Mission and parishioners placing names of family members and friends in vases succeeds in opening the door to many Catholics that have been away from the church.

As a result of this effort, The Evangelization Ministry met with Catholics interested in returning. To assist these Catholics in their return and to answer any questions they may have, a Mentoring program has been established for their journey back.

Not all those interested were able to attend the event. Parishioners desiring assistance to help family members or friends return to the Church are invited to call the parish office (847-251-0771) or leave an E-mail message via the website expressing your needs.

WELCOME NIGHT
An Enjoyable Evening for Everyone!

Eight new parishioner families attended Welcome Night at the St. Joseph School Cafeteria on March 20, 2011.  The evening kicked off with social hour followed by a variety of Pizza, salad and home-made desserts.  Welcome Night is held every six months in the St. Joseph School cafeteria.

Fr. Bob Tonelli, Fr. Henry Kricek, and Fr. Albano Fernandes, our parish priests, welcomed everyone and introduced the various ministry representatives.

Representatives who spoke on their ministries included:  Tim Johnson, representing the Parish Council; Dana McKenna, representing Religious Education; Heidi O’Toole, representing the Women’s Club; and Erin Brown, representing Guild 3 of the Woman’s Club (Moms and Tots Group).

Additionally, John Henik, representative of The Evangelization Committee, introduced the new parishioners to The Bells of St. Joseph, the church’s on-line newsletter.

Mary and George Pearce, who chair the Welcome Night Committee, Diane Clark and Ellie Weisbard were acknowledged by Fr. Bob for their hard work and efforts in setting up the event.
