The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the method of coming
into the fullness of the Catholic Church from other faith traditions or from
no faith tradition.
If you are interested in becoming Catholic, or just wish to explore if it is
right for you, then RCIA is just right for you. If you are:
- not baptized, or
- baptized in a different faith tradition from Catholicism, or
- baptized Catholic, but received no formal instruction in the Sacrament of the Eucharist
Baptized Catholics who have received formal instruction in the Sacrament of
Eucharist can learn more about the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Confirmation
Program for Adults.
RCIA will prepare you to come into the fullness of the Catholic Church
during the Easter Vigil, which occurs annually, when you feel you are ready.
Currently, RCIA sessions are held on Sundays, where we attend Mass for the Liturgy of the Word and then continue outside of Mass reflecting on scriptures and discussing Catholic teaching. Participants are expected to attend weekly sessions.
If you would like to receive more information fill in the form below or call the St. Joseph Rectory at (847) 251-0771 and tell them you are interested in RCIA.
